Trainer Gary White wasn't expecting Feerique to greet the winners
circle this preparation, let alone on Tasmanias richest race day, but
Feerique did so impressively in an 1100m maiden.
Feerique was ridden by leading Victorian Apprentice Nicholas Hall,
who relaxed the filly off the pace in the early stages, before
navigating his way through the field to hit the lead over the last few
hundred metres and skip away for a comfortable win.
On returning to scale Hall said 'Thats the way to ride
her' referring to the way the filly relished dropping out early,
allowing her to come home hard.
Gary White was happy for Feerique to gain the experience of racing
in front of a big crowd and amongst a big field as he expected the
filly to mature into a top three year old and be racing over the summer
carnival come the next season.
"The filly has benefited from her first few outings and ridden superbly today gave us a glimpse of her potential", he said.
Gary will look for a suitable race during the Launceston Cup Carnival for Feerique over the next few weeks.
