Feerique has chipped into the Tamar teams lead in the Tas Racing Challenge by winning the Class 1 Tasbreeders (1400m) at Launceston on Sunday. The Gary White trained filly saluted at huge odds ($34.90SP) despite being fancied on Friday by White. "Her first few runs have been full of merit and I expected her to improve again with the 1400m trip," said White when interviewed on Friday. "I told Dean (Holland) in the mounting yard to not worry about her price, if she ran up to her work she would be hard to beat." The win was full of merit with Feerique having to endure a three-wide run, albeit with cover, in the early stages. "She didn't have things go her way early and I was fully expecting Parched to run over the top of her in the straight," said White. "But she got to the outside and fought off a number of challenges so I was very impressed.". Feerique scored by almost a length from race favourite Parched and although White would like to look for a similar race, there isn't a lot about. "I'd like to run her again in a fortnights time, but there doesn't seem to be a lot of options on the calendar," he said. "I think she will love the mile and we are still heading towards some of the three-year-old features."
